At Migrationweb Africa (MIWA), we exist to empower Africa’s youth, who make up a significant portion of the continent’s population and are often marginalized by poverty and inequality. In Ghana alone, youth aged 15 to 35 years represent a third of the population, yet they frequently find themselves excluded from socio-economic processes and decision-making structures.
Recognizing the urgent need for action, MIWA brings together innovative and passionate development professionals dedicated to working with relevant stakeholders to empower young people as both agents and beneficiaries of sustainable development.
MIWA has been at the forefront of youth development policy, practice, and research in Ghana, with a specific focus on preventing risky migration. We offer tailored skills training that enhances leadership, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and life planning abilities among young people. Our work equips thousands of youth with the education, skills, and technical support needed to transition into meaningful self-employment or wage employment, steering them away from dangerous migration paths.
MIWA also plays a crucial role in closing the data gap on youth issues in Africa. Our research strengthens the evidence base for public policy, ensuring that youth-inclusive approaches are integrated into national and regional development strategies. Through our various projects we continue to harness our grassroots influence to advocate for policies that prioritize the safety, well-being, and potential of Africa’s youth.
We believe in the power of young people to drive change. Our work is dedicated to equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to transform their lives and communities.
We champion the inclusion of all youth, regardless of background or circumstance, in socio-economic processes and decision-making structures. We advocate for policies that ensure every young person has access to equal opportunities and a stake in their future.
We uphold the highest standards of honesty, transparency, and accountability in all our actions. Our commitment to ethical practices guides our interactions with the communities we serve and the stakeholders we engage.
We embrace creative and forward-thinking approaches to youth development. By continuously exploring new ideas and solutions, we aim to stay at the forefront of efforts to address the challenges facing Africa’s youth.
We are dedicated to fostering sustainable development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to thrive. Our work focuses on long-term solutions that promote economic self-sufficiency and environmental stewardship.
We believe in the strength of partnerships. By working closely with local communities, governments, NGOs, and international organizations, we amplify our impact and drive collective action for youth empowerment.
We are committed to being a strong voice for Africa’s youth. Through research, education, and grassroots mobilization, we advocate for policies that prioritize the well-being and development of young people across the continent.
Our organization truly believes that by working together, we can
save more lives than ever before.
