MIWA

Our Key Focus Areas of Work

Our programs have been carefully curated to touch every aspect of youth development. We hitch our focus on various areas from capacity development to sustainability.

We focus on equipping young people with essential skills in leadership, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and life planning. Our training programmes are tailored to meet the specific needs of youth, enabling them to transition into meaningful employment and self-employment opportunities, and reducing their inclination towards risky migration.

MIWA mobilizes and empowers young people to advocate for safer migration pathways and informed decision-making. We work to ensure that youth perspectives on migration are integrated into national and regional policy frameworks, promoting strategies that address the root causes of irregular migration. By fostering youth-led advocacy, we champion policies that create sustainable opportunities at home, reducing the need for risky migration.

We are committed to closing the data gap on youth issues in Africa. Our research efforts focus on gathering evidence-based insights that inform public policy and programme design, ensuring that interventions are effectively tailored to address the real challenges facing young people.

We raise awareness about the risks associated with unsafe migration and promote safer alternatives. Through education campaigns and community outreach, we work to inform youth about the dangers of irregular migration and provide them with the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future.

We engage with communities to create environments that support youth development and sustainability. By working with local stakeholders, we foster community-based initiatives that enhance the socio-economic well-being of young people, providing them with a stable foundation from which to grow and thrive.
